Safety
Ensuring safety in aquatics construction and maintenance is our top priority, protecting both our workers and clients while fostering growth and excellence.
Ensuring Unparalleled Safety Standards in Aquatic Construction
At Weller Pools, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest safety standards on all our construction sites. Safety is not just a priority; it is a core value that guides every aspect of our operations. To reinforce our commitment, we employ a dual-layered safety enforcement strategy that includes both an onsite safety team and an independent third-party safety consultant.
Chemical
Management
Handling pool chemicals requires stringent safety measures. Our chemical management protocols ensure the safe storage and handling of pool chemicals, comprehensive training for staff on their safe use, and the importance of accurate chemical measurements and mixing. We employ automated chemical dispensing systems to minimize exposure and have established emergency procedures for chemical spills or leaks. In addition, our workers are trained to respond promptly to any health issues caused by chemical reactions, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for everyone involved. Additionally, the Department of Health (“DOH”) requires aquatic facilities to maintain proper water quality by controlling pH levels, temperatures, and cleanliness. As a standard on our punch list for turnover, the Weller Pools team ensures water quality prior to project turnover.
Lifetime Inspection & Maintenance
Weller Pools' commitment to safety extends beyond the completion of aquatics construction projects. We encourage clients to regularly inspect their pool's structure and equipment to address potential hazards promptly. Informing clients about the importance of complying with safety regulations is vital to our turnover process. We develop programs for scheduled maintenance of pumps, filters, and drains or encourage clients to maintain these themselves. Throughout construction, our technicians meticulously document inspections, maintenance activities, and communications with clients, providing essential records in the event of a loss or lawsuit. This thorough approach ensures that safety is maintained long after the initial construction, fostering a secure and enjoyable environment for all end users.
Emergency Preparedness
Emergency preparedness is paramount in minimizing injuries, protecting lives, and preventing catastrophes. We establish comprehensive emergency plans that outline specific actions for various scenarios, including hurricanes as the majority of our construction takes places in the southeast. Clear communication channels and an emergency contact list are provided to all workers, and evacuation routes and assembly points are strategically posted. Key personnel are assigned responsibilities during emergencies, and protocols for handling different types of emergencies—such as injuries, fire, and chemical spills—are in place. Employees can access emergency preparedness plans, personal protective equipment, and first aid and CPR training. Regular emergency drills and simulations are conducted to ensure readiness, and safety equipment like lifebuoys, safety ropes, and reaching poles are mandated. Our emergency plans are regularly reviewed and updated to adapt to changes in personnel, facilities, or risks, ensuring that our employees can respond quickly and effectively to any situation, reducing potential harm and insurance claims.
Third Party
Safety Consultant
To complement our onsite efforts, we partner with a third-party safety consultant who visits each jobsite on a regular basis. This independent expert provides an additional layer of oversight, offering an objective perspective on our safety practices. Their role includes conducting comprehensive safety audits, reviewing and updating safety procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations, and providing ongoing training and education to our onsite team.
Workforce & Training Protocols
At the heart of our construction projects is a well-trained workforce, which is essential for quality work and heightened safety. Proper training goes beyond mere compliance; it instills a culture of safety and professionalism among our employees. Weller Pools' commitment to workforce training includes:
Comprehensive safety procedures
Regular refresher courses
Continuing education to keep our team updated on the latest industry standards
This approach helps prevent tragic incidents in which inadequate fall protection training can lead to fatalities and promotes a safe and engaging work environment. Investing in our employees' skills and industry knowledge creates leadership opportunities and ensures our projects are executed with the utmost care and precision.
